PROGRESSIVE ART STUDIO DIRECTORY

Progressive art studios (sometimes called supportive art studios) are specialized professional fine art studio environments that support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) or mental health conditions in building and maintaining careers in contemporary art. These nonprofit organizations are facilitated by staff—often artists themselves—who provide mentorship to help individuals take ownership of their creative process and build community. To champion these self-sustaining artistic careers, the studios provide essential resources like art supplies, space to explore new mediums, and gallery or exhibition opportunities to sell work and generate income for the artists.
